Infrastructure Models

This page presents the development of the ACD-Engine’s approaches to cultural data management and ontology construction over the course of the project, through modelled diagrams.

Linked Open Data Development (November 2022)

This diagram represents the work spearheaded by ACD-Engine doctoral candidate Rui Liu to build an open linked data ontology for the interconnection of the databases and data sources involved with the ACD-Engine partnership. Over the life of the project, this diagram will lead the advancement of linking among our datasets and their connection to external aggregators including Trove and Wikidata.

Data Domains (April 2022)

This diagram divides the various ontologies of each dataset currently partnering with the ACD-Engine into broadly comparable ‘domains’ that can interface horizontally with one another as well as vertically within each database. This process allows the engine to build combined and comparative datasets of biographies, organisations, networks, and so on across our cultural databases. The first column lists the domains with our collective names for each, and subsequent columns list the respective terms for each database system. Green cells represent databases to which we have full access at the time of writing, and red cells represent datasets that are still in construction.

Project Pipeline Schematic (April 2020)

This diagram visualises the ACD-Engine’s proposed system at the time of project inception, showing links between partner organisations, their collections, organisational capabilities and functions, to identify inputs and outputs of access to infrastructure. As the project develops, this pipeline will be refined and outputs generated suitable to the users and beneficiaries mentioned.
