Urgent Histories

We’ve been accepted to speak at this year’s Australian Historical Association Conference, hosted by Deakin Contemporary Histories Research Group on the theme, ‘Urgent Histories.’ The conference will be held from Monday 27 June – Friday 1 July 2022 at Deakin University Geelong Waterfront Campus.

Our forthcoming paper is titled ‘The Slipperiness of Name: Gender and Biography in Australian Cultural Databases.’

‘Urgent Histories’ allows historians to focus on the uses and usefulness of the past in pressing contemporary public debates, disputes and narratives. It welcomes histories and history-making distinctive to the local and particular through to addressing shared human conditions.
