Cultural Data Codebooks

We’re excited to release 3 Cultural Data Codebooks as an early project output of the Australian Cultural Data Engine. In the Data section of our website you’ll find newly published codebooks for AusStage, Design & Art Australia Online (DAAO), and the Digital Archive of Queensland Architecture (DAQA).

What is a Codebook?

Our codebooks include information about where the data come from and how they were collected. The codebooks accompany each dataset and include a list of the variables included in the dataset and what those variable measure. They can be used by researchers, historians, social scientists, data scientists, and anyone conducting digital humanities work using cultural data.

All published codebooks will soon be accompanied by downloadable datasets for use in cultural analytics research.
